What people earn ? (part 1)

Parade magazine publish a annual report on everyday folks salary. It is my experience that when you read other salary surveys, you often feel bad because it appears most people on the survey make more than you do; but when you read Parade's survey, you often feel good (or sad) because it looks like many people on this survey make less than you do.
